HELP WANTED: Join The TMS The Mega Source Team.
Staff volunteer positions are available just tell me how you want to help. No project   this size can ever be done by one person and be done well.
 1. Those interested and with extensive scripting experience may join the scripting   staff contact "Louis" <louis@coolscriptszone.net>
 2. Register your peer to peer IRC sharing channel and favorite channels with    TMS-Bibo for the creation of a ALL IRC P2P Resources Directory      <garedjax2@aol.com>.
 3. Music, Movie and Software Journalists are desperately needed now! Basically    writers who stay up with new and hard to find releases known to exist on the TMS   Network and points of contact for requests for specific P2P movie, music and    software releases.
 4. I especially encourage students of all ages who want experience performing as a   journalist and working with a editor, and making TMS a better IRC based P2P    sharing resource. This is a GLOBAL opportunity.
 5.  Need a experienced web master contact thebreadboyz@yahoo.com.
 6. Someone to stay connected 24/7 to serve TDCC all documents and software required   to run #tms-movies operations. Not movies but always have a fast return of these   precious resources to our users. I find these buried in my queues too often and   it delays users from resourcing #tms-movies.
 7.  Remember this network is about sharing not leaching. If you are not sharing you   are the problem; ask how to set up a F-Server.

TMS-Clocks - Topic of the WEEK:
How to Split a 'Full Version' Movie into 2 Separate Halves using TMPGEnc
by Gary Romaneo, garry998@msn.com, TMS-Clocks

Hi I am Gary Romaneo, other wise known as TMS-Clocks and each week I am going to be publishing tips here in the TMS-Weekly Newsletter that I hope you find useful as a fellow member of TMS. If you have any questions regarding Video, Audio or basic computing feel free to ask me online or by email  garry998@msn.com.

Note: This software mentioned here is available online as a free download at http://www.tmpgENC.Com
As you know, alot of Movies are offered in 'Full Length' versions, and this creates a problem when trying to burn them onto 1 CD-R/RW. The error: Not enough disk-space will pop up...A Full-Size Movie will be somewhere around 600-800mband you will need to cut the movie into 2 parts to be able to burn and view it properly.
TMPGEnc will want you to first CONVERT your movie into .mpg format (currently its probably in AVI or DivxDVD format), this is a fairly simple process and here are the steps to Follow:

Open the Project Wizard (<click on>File then select the wizard), then select Video-CD(NTSC)-not film, just NTSC..., then click NEXT, then open your video (click Browse next to Video File:)
NOTE: If your source is DivX, ASF, or SMR it is best to extract the Audio separate-to wav with 'Virtual Dub' because the audio source is often in vbr format which TMPGENC cannot handle that well (causes syncronization problems). But if you are converting from dv, huffyuv, mjpeg, avi, with ac3 you can leave the audio same as the video.
If you get an error message when opening the video or audio (like file unsupported) or you get an empty-black preview window or the video looks wierd in the preview window-like green, pink,or purple.....Be sure that you have installed the DivX Codec (both DivX 3.11,4and 5!!) you can get them here http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divxcodec.html all 3 versions are available to download there, also try with the Nimo Codec Pack..found here:
http://www.btinternet.com/~nimosiro/ and if that does not work after installing all them, try to change the 'Codec Reader settings' in TMPGEnc under....Options---->EnvironmentalSettings---->VFAPI plug-in, and right-click on the 'Direct Show Multimedia File Reader' and increase the parity to 1 or 2 and try to open your video again.
Then once you put the Video in : 'Video File' you set the Aspect Ratio to 4:3 525 line (NTSC).....click NEXT, then on the 'Filter Settings' window- just click NEXT,...On the next window 'Bitrate Settings', you can leave the same or choose CD-R 80 min (vcd/svcd) then click NEXT, then select the Output file Name....(it will probably have the correct file in the address bar- just make sure it ends in .mpg) leave the checkmark on ' Start Encoding Immediately ' then click OK (if it asks if you want to create the file...select OK) THERE!! it should start encoding.....Once finished encoding, it will place the 'NEW' .mpg video file into the Output folder you selected.
Ok....now that you have your .mpg video file, open TMPGEnc again.....click on File(top left hand corner), and select MPEG Tools....then choose the TAB 'Merge and Cut' - in the 'Type:' bar....select MPEG-1 Video CD(non-standard)..then click on the ADD button, and open the folder (if not already in the bar) and select the .mpg version of the movie (not the avi one!!!!) in the MPEG Tools window- press the clear button to clear the window, then press the ADD button, and Select the FULL .mpg video (not the AVI one!!) Now it should take you to the MPEG Tools window again, and your Video should appear in the window-listed as a .mpg file. Double-click on the video in the window, this will open up another window- 'Edit merge item', and this is where you are going to split the movie into 2 separate movie halves.

First click on the ( { ) button (this will indicate the beginning of your Video) then click on the slider bar- then double click the slider bar and hold the second click down and drag the slider bar to exactly half way thru the movie (which is half way on the bar)then click the ( } ) button (this will indicate the end of the half Video file)-then click OK. the NEW shortened Video will appear in a window with a start and end time....Now you need to select the 'Output' folder that this is going to....Click Browse...on the Output bar, open the folderyou want the Video to go into, then name the file(video) under File Name....then click SAVE. Then on the MPEG Tools window in front of you, click RUN....and the process starts (Outputting...) once its finished, your new first half will be in the folder you selected.
Now for the Second half of your Video, in the MPEG Tools window, press the -Clear- button to clear the window, then press the --ADD- button and select the FULL .mpg Video (not the AVI one and not the half movie you just created) and click OPEN. Your full Video should appear in the window.....Double click on the Video in the window and it opens the 'Edit and Merge item' window. Take the slider bar and drag it to the middle (right where you ended the first half) or even alittle before the middle, and press the ( { ) button (this will indicate the beginning of the second half of your Video) then drag the slider bar to the end of the bar and press the ( } ) button (this indicated the end of the second half of your Video)....Click OK - then in the MPEG Tools window, press RUN...and the process starts again (Outputting...)

Thats It!!!! Now you have 2 'half' Videos (1of2) and (2of2).....Now youre ready to burn...Open NERO burning Rom, choose CD, click Next, select ..Compile a New CD, click Next, select Other CD Formats, click Next, select Video CD, click Next, then press Finish....then open the folder with the NEW split movie in it and drag the first half Video over to the burn window, press the burn icon on top, and repeat for the second half Video......
Link to Virtual Dub................. http://www.virtualdub.org/virtualdub_docs all the instructions will also be found on that website!!! Good Luck also check out my website at www.pcexpert1.tk for more help with your computer or movies or anything PC related.
Coming in Next Weeks Newsletter: I will explain how to use Virtual Dub to edit the audio and video, to get your movies playing smoothly!!!  Until next time, see you online in #tms-movies!!

*************************************************************************************************said. "Anyone at any time can simply turn on a radio and hear a copyrighted song. Making matters worse, these radio stations often play the best, catchiest song off the album over and over until people get sick of it. Where is the incentive for people to go out and buy the album?"
According to Rosen, the radio stations acquire copies of RIAA artists' CDs and then broadcast them using a special transmitter, making it possible for anyone with a compatible radio-wave receiver to listen to the songs.
"These radio stations are extremely popular," Rosen said. "They flagrantly string our songs together in 'uninterrupted music blocks' of up to 70 minutes in length, broadcasting nearly one CD's worth of product without a break, and they actually have the gall to allow businesses to advertise between songs. It's bad enough that they're giving away our music for free, but they're actually making a profit off this scheme."
RIAA attorney Russell Frackman said the lawsuit is intended to protect the artists.
"If this radio trend continues, it will severely damage a musician's ability to earn a living off his music," Frackman said. "[Metallica drummer] Lars Ulrich stopped in the other day wondering why his last royalty check was so small, and I didn't know what to say. How do you tell a man who's devoted his whole life to his music that someone is able to just give it away for free? That pirates are taking away his right to support himself with his craft?"
For the record companies and the RIAA, one of the most disturbing aspects of the radio-station broadcasts is that anyone with a receiver and an analog tape recorder can record the music and play it back at will.
"I've heard reports that children as young as 8 tape radio broadcasts for their own personal use," Rosen said. "They listen to a channel that has a limited rotation of only the most popular songscommonly called 'Top 40' stationsthen hit the 'record' button when they hear the opening strains of the song they want. And how much are they paying for these songs? A big fat zip."

Above: One of the hundreds of radio stations being sued for distributing copyrighted music.
Continued Rosen: "According to our research, there is one of these Top 40 stations in every major city in the country. This has to be stopped before the music industry's entire economic infrastructure collapses."
Especially distressing to the RIAA are radio stations' "all-request hours," when listeners call in to ask radio announcers, or "disc jockeys," to play a certain song.
"What's the point of putting out a new Ja Rule or Sum 41 album if people can just call up and hear any song off the album that they want?" Frackman asked. "In some instances, these stations actually have the nerve to let the caller 'dedicate' his act of thievery to a friend or lover. Could you imagine a bank letting somebody rob its vaults and then allowing the thief to thank his girlfriend Tricia and the whole gang down at Bumpy's?"
Defenders of radio-based music distribution insist that the relatively poor sound quality of radio broadcasts negates the record companies' charges.
"Radio doesn't have the same sound quality as a CD," said Paul "Cubby" Bryant, music director of New York radio station Z100, one of the nation's largest distributors of free music and a defendant in the suit. "Real music lovers will still buy CDs. If anything, we're exposing people to music they might not otherwise hear. These record companies should be thanking us, not suing us."
Outraged by the RIAA suit, many radio listeners are threatening to boycott the record companies.
"All these companies care about is profits," said Amy Legrand, 21, an avid Jacksonville, FL, radio user who surreptitiously records up to 10 songs a day off the radio. "Top 40 radio is taking the power out of the hands of the Ahmet Erteguns of the world and bringing it back to the people of Clear Channel and Infinity Broadcasting. It's about time somebody finally stood up to those record-company fascists."

Two New IRC Related Worms dtd Oct 4, 2002
http://www.irc-junkie.org/index.php

Not just 1, but 2 new worms have been discovered for today.
First off, VBS.Pelic.Worm is a worm that can also spread itself through the popular KaZaa filesharing network. Once installed on the computer it will try to disable any installed anti-virus software. It will copy itself into the KaZaa share folder, as well on several system folders. It will add a entry in the mIRC script.ini that will make it automatically DCC the file to each person joining any channel where the infected person is in.
The second worm only spreads itself using the popular mIRC client, and has been given the name W32.Gillich.Mirc. When the worm runs it will popup a requestor with the next message:
This piece of code was written for, 4 of my friends, who died in a car accident!. Its very terrible, isn't it?
If you would answer "yes" the worm would quit with a thanks for the condoleance, but on answering "no" it would display another popup claiming you are responsible for the accident, after which it wll start to overwrite .exe files in the Windows system directory. As usual this worm will try to spread itself with the use of DCC.
As always, have a up to date anti-virus product running to prevent getting infected. These days even several freeware products are available, so it wouldnt have to cost you anything if your short on money. Check http://www.irc-junkie.org/content/links.php#security for a list of links.
